The Halcyon House is a luxury boutique hotel situated on the pristine beach of Cabarita, Northern New South Wales. With stunning architecture, curves, white terraces and incredible ocean views, it is no wonder it is an award-winning destination. This creative establishment has been running for seven years and comprises of 22 luxury rooms and suites.
The founders- sister duo Siobhan and Elisha Bickle- purchased the hotel in 2011, when it was known as a local surfing motel- The Hideaway. They have since curated an exceptionally luxurious establishment, attracting a whole different calibre of customers. The hatted restaurant Paper Daisy is exclusively open to in-house guests, whilst the wellness space Halcyon Spa is home to relaxing holistic facial and body treatments. 1. What would customers expect to experience during their stay?
Guests can expect a luxury vacation experience in a relaxed sea-side location. We aim to give guests the opportunity to recall past memories of their favourite beachside holidays throughout their stay
2. Describe the interior style here at halcyon house and what this evokes to your customers?
The interior style is that of relaxed luxury. We want guests to feel comfortable and at home, and our interiors by Anna Spiro evoke that with the use of colour, texture and unique furnishings in every room.
3. Who was your architect and team behind these unique interiors? How did this uniqueness set you apart from other hotels and boost your business to instagram stardom.
The extensive renovations were led by Sydney-based architect Virginia Kerridge, while the properties boutique rooms were each uniquely designed by Brisbane-based interior designer Anna Spiro. Many of the vintage pieces and furnishings, such as John Derian sofas, Madeline Weinrib rugs and drawings by Wayne Pate, were personally sourced by Anna, Siobhan and Elisha.
4. What does halcyon house cater for families with young children?
Children are welcome at Halcyon House, and we offer two luxury 2-bedroom suites for Families. The heated pool is in use year-round and with bikes and surfboards onsite for guest use, we are the perfect location for those with tween or teenage children wanting to explore our surroundings.
5. What do you believe sets you apart from other luxury boutique hotels, and how is this conveyed in the customer’s experience?
Our relaxed, comfortable and unique interiors and our onsite hatted restaurant, Paper Daisy is what guests really appreciate. Plus our desirable location, as we have direct beach access and a world-class surf on our doorstep and Byron Bay and the Gold Coast are easily accessible for a quick day trip too. The Halcyon Spa is another big drawcard for guests wanting to relax and recharge.
6. Where are your customers coming from? Is it mostly local or mixed instate or international?
It’s a mix of both local and interstate at the moment as the world recovers from the pandemic, but we have started to see more international guests of late which is wonderful too.
